Overview of the Venue
Location: Champion Lakes Regatta Centre
Champion Lakes, Armadale, Western Australia
Champion Lakes Regatta Centre is a world-class venue for rowing, canoeing, dragon boating, triathlon and other water sport competitions.
The site encompasses 55 hectares with a 2000 metre international standard rowing course, warm up lake, boat shed, storage area and clubhouse (including a purpose built first aid room).
The centre is home to a number of sporting groups and hosts national and international competitions including the national duathlon championships in 2013 and 2015. Significant improvements to the site hydrology have been made to improve and ensure water quality standards (no days lost due to water quality since November 2015 – water test conducted fortnightly on a vast range of water quality parameters).
There are approximately 11kms of sealed pathways within the venue for pedestrian and cycle use.
The distance around the entire perimeter of Champion Lakes on the Event Path is 5 kms. The distance between the pedestrian and traffic bridge around the perimeter of the warm up Lake on the Event and Pedestrian Paths is 1.8 kms. Shade sails have been added to the facility to provide additional undercover shaded areas and additional tents can be installed to provide additional shaded areas if required.
